En août 1979, il y a plus de quarante ans, Casella écrit "L'imposture écologique" pour établir quelques points de repère face au succès des idéologies qui commençaient à se propager. Il fait référence à Marx et Engels quand ils affirment que la société bourgeoise, par son caractère intrinsèque, déséquilibre le rapport naturel entre l'activité de l'homme et la terre. Pour cette raison, affirme Casella, "se limiter à voir le saccage de la terre que le développement du capitalisme porte avec lui signifie ne pas comprendre la réalité, penser à un développement capitaliste "respectueux de la nature" signifie créer des illusions pour soi et pour les autres, c'est faire l'apologie du capitalisme tel qu'il est réellement".
La solution ne peut être que dans le communisme. Casella poursuit : "C'est entre les mains de la révolution prolétarienne que réside la possibilité d'accomplir le saut historique, de passer du chaos de la production pour la production à la production selon un plan, élaboré avec la conscience scientifique de vivre au "sein de la nature"." Tel est l'horizon des batailles et principes pour une politique communiste, en particulier la bataille pour l'autonomie et l'unité de classe des travailleurs contre toute idéologie bourgeoise, contre toute division nationale, ethnique et religieuse.
Marx écrit dans La Sainte famille que "si l'homme est formé par les circonstances, il faut former les circonstances humainement", parce que "ce qui importe, c'est que l'intérêt privé de l'homme se confonde avec l'intérêt humain". Le capitalisme n'est pas la société qui peut faire coïncider l'intérêt privé et l'intérêt humain. C'est une société qui ne peut pas apporter de réponse aux grands besoins et aux grandes questions sur la condition humaine et sur la vie.
Nous vivons le paradoxe de métropoles impérialistes mûres, où la richesse et le bien-être sont accompagnés de "l'hiver démographique", avec des berceaux de plus en plus vides. La conception communiste n'est pas une perspective individuelle, mais celle du genre humain tout entier. Etre communiste signifie lutter pour la "civilisation de la vie", signifie lutter pour unifier notre espèce qui est, encore aujourd'hui, divisée en classes.
C'est une bataille pluri-générationnelle qui regarde vers l'avenir.
